New project meeting in Kaunas, Lithuania

Our next project meeting(workshop) will take place in Lithuania, in Kaunas, the town which was situated about 1000 years ago on the confluence of two rivers the Nemunas and the Neris. The meeting will start on the 20th of September and finish on the 27th. Teachers and students from Germany, Greece and Lithuania will meet at Kaunas Radvilenai secondary school. We will have common rehearsals, work together on our plays. The plays will be presented to the audience of our regional community. The plays are chosen by the countries: ‘Love and fight’ from Lithuanian school, ‘Dangerous chemistry’ from German school and ‘My real life ‘ from Greek school. As our fourth partner Turkish school can’t come to Lithuania, there will be only three plays. The performance of the plays is planned to be held at Kaunas Radvilenai secondary school on the 26th of September 2008 .The Day of European Languages is a traditional festival at our school. This year it will really be the Week of European Languages-we will hear German and Greek native speakers at our school. The plays are written and will be performed in English. Our project guests will be shown Kaunas centre, new and old town with wonderful Town Hall. We plan to go to Rumsiskes folk museum. Also we will have an excursion to Vilnius-capital of Lithuania, to Trakai with wonderful island castle.
Teachers and students from Lithuania, Germany and Greece will live and work together for one week. They will have a chance to know better Lithuania and its people and to make friends with each other. We will have an opening ceremony where Lithuanian folk songs and dances will be performed. Friendship is the main ace in Comenius projects.
Meeting and working together help teachers and students to know better the way of life of each country which they visit. Our project unites teachers and students from very different cultures and it is really very interesting to work together. The main performance of our plays will be at the end of our meeting and that will show the results of our common work. Friendship usually doesn’t end with the end of the meeting. Wish us success in Lithuania. New stars will be born in Kaunas:-).

SCENE 1


The pupils are sitting in the class room and are waiting for Mrs. Simpson and their chemistry lesson.

KATIE: She will come in and say... Sorry I’m late. Then she will bore us to death. Every day the same… I can’t stand it anymore…

Tina: That’s true. I hate her.

CHRISSIE: She can’t organize the lessons. She just stands in front of the black board and says “I’m the teacher.”

KATIE: Stupid teacher…

CHRISSIE: Dumb teacher…

Tina: She is coming.


The pupils are preparing to throw paper balls. Mrs. Simpson comes in.


Tina: Fireeeeeee!

MRS. SIMPSON: Oh, my goodness. Stop all of you.

Tina: Stop !!!


They stop. Mrs. Simpson is frustrated.


MRS SIMPSON: Sorry I´m late, but that doesn’t mean you have to throw paper balls at me.

CHRISSIE: Oh I beg your pardon, we didn’t mean it.

MRS. SIMPSON: Yeah, sure! Well,… let’s start! Who would like to explain what we did last week?

Tina: (whispering to Chrissie): She doesn´t remember herself, I bet.


Mrs. Simpson is waiting for an answer.


MRS. SIMPSON: Oh, nobody know’s it.. What a surprise….
KATIE: I’ll start of course… But… um…eh… am… Sorry but… oh I don´t remember.

MRS. SIMPSON: Oh, well. Let´s do an experiment instead. Chrissie, could you please come here.

CHRISSIE: Why me?

Tina: (speaking aside to the others): Because she hates you.

Katie laughs.

MRS.SIMPSON: Come here and mix these two substances and then you watch what happens.


Chrissie mixes the substances. Mrs. Simpson is standing next to her. Suddenly, there is an explosion. Mrs. Simpson and Chrissie fall on the floor and lie there unconsciously.


KATIE: Oh, my God. Chrissie? She runs towards her.


Chrissie and Mrs Simpson slowly wake up again. They stand up and look at each other, Chrissie touches her body (Mrs Simpson) and starts screaming. Mrs. Simpson, too. They touch their body and can’t believe what has happened. They have switched bodies.


CHRISSIE: Chrissie? What have you done?

MRS. SIMPSON: I don’t know. I only mixed these two substances and suddenly… BOOOOM..

KATIE (surprised): Are you two okay. What are you talking about?

CHRISSIE: Nothing. I´m great. (whispering to Mrs Simpson). Oh, my goodness. What should we do now?

Mrs Simpson touches her body and looks enthusiastic.

CHRISSIE: Chrissie? What are you doing? Please stop it, it’s my body.

MRS. SIMPSON: Oh, my god. I' m grown up..

Tina: Are you completely mad, Mrs Simpson? Of course you are grown up. I´ll go to the office and get an ambulance. I think that we have to take them to hospital.

CHRISSIE: (looking down at herself) And I am a teenager. Oh my God, what will my husband say?

KATIE: Chriissssie. Your husband? Are you raving mad? Tina, don´t leave me alone with these two. I´ll come with you.


They both leave the room very quickly.


CHRISSIE: Okay. What should we do now?

MRS. SIMPSON: I don’t know. Oh my god my friends. They think I am a goner.

CHRISSIE: Friends? Oh my god my husband.

MRS. SIMPSON: Fuck! Oh my god.. Oh my god… Please don’t say that I must sleep in one bed with him…

CHRISSIE: Oh, my goodness… Tonight….

MRS. SIMPSON: What are saying?

CHRISSIE: Nothing…Nothing…And. how can we go home like that today?

MRS. SIMPSON: I don’t know… But we have to do it.

CHRISSIE: We don´t have a choice.… We must behave like you are me and I’m you.

MRS. SIMPSON: No… don’t go to my house… It isn’t good there!

CHRISSIE: I’m sure it’s not as bad as you try to make me think.

MRS. SIMPSON: Hmmm… Ok. And what should I do when I’m in your home?

CHRISSIE: Work. Don´t talk to my husband. Avoid him, please.

MRS. SIMPSON: Well, let’s see what is going to happen.

CHRISSIE: We should go home now and act normally. And nobody will notice what happened.

MRS. SIMPSON: Good! Where do you live? And how do I get there? Can I take your car?

CHRISSIE: Nooooooooooooo!

The lights fade.




SCENE 2:


The lights go on again.. The scenes in Chrissie’ house and in Mrs Simpson’s house are played together on stage. Chrissie enters her home. Her aunt comes towards her.

LOREY: Where were you all the time? I was getting nervous!!

CHRISSIE: I had to stay longer because I forgot to show my chemistry homework yesterday.

LOREY: Oh, your stupid teacher! The woman is…

CHRISSIE: What am I?

LOREY: What did you say?

CHRISSIE: I mean… What is Mrs Simpson?

LOREY: You don’t have to know! Well, go and do your damn homework. And by the way. A boy named Ronnie came to see you. Whose this Ronnie?

CHRISSIE: Ronnie. I have no idea. (she speaks to the audience). Seriously. Who is Ronnie? Is he my boyfriend. Oh, please, no.

The bells rings again. Aunt Lorey goes to the door and comes back with Ronnie. Lorey leaves the room.

RONNIE: Are you okay, sweetie. Kate said you had an accident at school today?

CHRISSIE: Hello. Hmm. You must be Ronnie. Right?

RONNIE: Are you mad, Chrissie? Of course I am Ronnie.

CHRISSIE: Oh, yes. Now I remember you.

RONNIE: Good.

CHRISSIE: You are Ronnie Hazelwood from 9E, aren´t you? Mrs Miller always complains about you.

RONNIE: Chrissie, are you okay today? You seem a bit confused. Have you seen a doctor?

CHRISSIE: Oh, nooo. Thank you. You better leave now. I have to do my homework for chemistry and English.

RONNIE: Your homework? You can´t be serious. You never do your homework for Mrs Simpson. You hate that cow.

CHRISSIE: That´s not true. She is a great teacher and a fine person. I like her very much.

RONNIE: Oh, my God. You like Mrs Simpson. You are strange today. Go and see a doctor. This is serious. Bye.



Ronnie leaves. Chrissie sighs and gets her books.


CHRISSIE: I am glad he didn´t try to kiss me, that boy. Aaarg! Well, let´s see. Math…History…English…Chemistry…oh, my god! Science…Art…Physics…enough for the whole day…


She sits down and picks up her English book and starts to read.

CHRISSIE: Copy the grammar from page 123 and fill in the correct verbs in exercises 5,6,8,9…Which verbs?? And four exercises??

She takes another book, begins to read.


CHRISSIE: What?? Four pages in history?? Read and sum up?? Who needs history anyway?

Chrissie starts to write something. The lights are turned off for a few seconds. Then they are turned on again. All the books are scattered on the floor. Chrissie looks very tired and sighs. Her aunt Lorey comes in and shouts at her.

LOREY: Two hours have passed and you still haven´t finished???


Chrissie only looks at her, yawns and then drops to the side.. The light fades. The lights are now on the other side of the stage where Mrs Simpson plays.
Mrs. Simpson enters her home.


Roger : Hey, darling! Finally you’re here.


He wants to give her a kiss but she turns away.


ROGER: What happened, my boo?

MRS. SIMPSON: Nothing… It´s only that I have to do much work.

ROGER: Yes, you are right. You have to mark the tests, right?

MRS.SIMPSON: What? A test?

ROGER: Yes... I think you don’t remember...right?

MRS.SIMPSON: Of course I remember… I’m only a bit stressed.

ROGER. Ok… You mark the tests now and I’ll go to the kitchen to cook something for tonight… And you know… tonight.

MRS SIMPSON: No, I don’t know…I am tired anyway. And I have a terrible headache.


Mrs. Simpson goes to her room. Another part of the stage is now her office.
There is a mountain of documents, Mrs Simpson picks some up and sighs. Then the phone rings.


MRS SIMPSON:: What’s that?? Oh, my god…… How can I mark these test? I’m not a teacher. Oh, what the hell. That can´t be so difficult. Just take a red pen, write a few comments and and give an E minus. That´s what that stupid Mrs Simpson always does with my tests.

She sits on the chair and tries to mark the tests.… She takes the first one and tries to write down something .

MRS SIMPSON: Is that correct? Don´t know. And I can´t even read the handwriting.

She stops and takes the another one. He takes another one.

MRS SIMPSON: Oh, my God. Give me back my body, please. I want to be a good student from now on. Just let me be myself again.




SCENE 3


The pupils are sitting in their class room again.

TINA: Are you ready?

CHRISSIE: Ready for what?

KATIE: Come on. Where are the paper balls?

CHRISSIE: Ah, the paper balls.

TINA: Okay, she is coming.

CHRISSIE: Morning, Mrs. Simpson!

Mrs Simpson comes in with her bag held in front of her like a shield. The pupils want to throw, but stop in their movement.

KATIE: What is she doing?

TINA: I don’t know…but how did she know that we planned it again?

MRS.SIMPSON: Chrissie, could you come with me?

CHRISSIE: Of course.

MRS SIMPSON: The rest of class is quiet, please.


The spot is on Chrissie and Mrs. Simpson.


CHRISSIE: What happened yesterday? Was everything okay?

MRS.SIMPSON: It was okay… I slept in your office.

CHRISSIE: In my office? Why?

MRS.SIMPSON: Mrs. Simpson, you know what would have happened.


Chrissie laughs.


MRS.SIMPSON: What can we do…? I can´t fight off your husband another night.

CHRISSIE: I don´t know.
MRS SIMPSON: And please don´t answer when my boyfriend calls.


The lights go out




SCENE 5


They’re in the classroom again.


CHRISSIE: Well…We’ll start with English grammar

CLASS: Oh, not again!

Mrs Simpson is getting nervous. She hesitates. Suddenly…She takes the chalk and tries to write something on the black board and begins to explain the English grammar.


MRS.SIMPSON: So… um yes… well … HE / SHE / IT…the verb needs an s …. Don’t forget that.

The class is very loud and everybody is talking.


MRS.SIMPSON: Be quiet now… Please.

The class is still very noisy.


MRS. SIMPSON: Now that´s enough.

She turns around and starts to explain something else.

MRS. SIMPSON: Now present progressive…


The class laughs, she is frustrated.


MRS.SIMPSON: Ok, ok…. Then…Here is your homework… Copy these sentences into your exercise book and learn them.

She writes a sentence which is wrong…”I’m going now at home to finished the dishes.”
The class laughs.


CHRISSIE: Chrissie, please come outside with me!

TINA: What has she done now?

The class starts to shout “boo” at her. They go together outside.


CHRISSIE: Do you see! Being a teacher is not as easy as you all think!

MRS SIMPSON: Yes, it’s true… I have never understood why teachers look that tired. But now…now that I have seen the class tests, I understand your bad mood!

CHRISSIE: Well, you know what. Your life is also not that easy… When I saw how much homework you had to do and that you had hardly any time for yourself I was a bit shocked!

MRS. SIMPSON: Yes…

CHRISSIE: Where are your parents?

MRS. SIMPSON: My parents? I don’t know who they are.

CHRISSIE: Oh…I’m sorry.

MRS. SIMPSON: Well it doesn’t matter to me. You know, I never met them.

CHRISSIE:: Oh, Chrissie …

MRS. SIMPSON: Okay. And what should I do now with the pupils?

CHRISSIE: No problem, you will survive. Set an exercise in the workshop. That will keep them busy.


They go back to the class room.




SCENE 5


The pupils go home and Mrs. Simpson waits for Katie.


MRS. SIMPSON: KATIEE…Help me! I’ve got a problem.

KATIE: Mrs. Simpson…you are very impolite.

MRS. SIMPSON: No. It’s me…Chrissie!

KATIE: Hahahaha…!A good joke.

MRS. SIMPSON: Noo…Katie believe me, please.

KATIE: How am I suppose to know that it’s you?

MRS. SIMPSON: Hmm...Mrs. Simpson couldn’t have known that you would throw the paper balls again. It was me.


KATIE: True. But I don´t believe you. Hmm, what´s your Aunt Lorey´s secret nickname?

MRS SIMPSON: That´s an easy one. It´s the human dragon.

KATIE: Oookay. Chrissie? But how come you are in her body?

MRS. SIMPSON: Well, the chemistry experiment. Remember? We both fell on the floor. Something terrible happened then.

KATIE: Oh my goodness. (She laughs)

MRS. SIMPSON: It’s not funny!

KATHIE: Ok, ok! But I’m just imagining what it feels like to start your day knowing that you have to teach a bunch of terrible teenagers. Do you wake up sweating? I mean are you afraud of us?

MRS SIMPSON: Ok, I got it and I know it sounds funny, but you are the expert in chemistry !! Invent something to help me!!!

KATIE: Ha ha ha, a good joke! We live in the 21st century and not in the year 3005!!

MRS: SIMPSON: Wow, now I told you my problem and you can’t help me…

KATIE: Maybe, you have to mix the same substances like you did yesterday.

MRS. SIMPSON: Katie!!! You’re a genius!!


Mrs. Simpson runs out of the class room.





SCENE 6

Mrs. Simpson and Chrissie are in chemistry room and try to mix the same substances.


CHRISSIE: I think I’ve got it now.

MRS. SIMPSON: Really?

CHRISSIE: But I don’t know if it will work.

MRS. SIMPSON: I hope that nothing worse will happens to us. Imagine myself switching my body with the headmistress.

CHRISSIE: Don’t worry. We have to try it.

MRS. SIMPSON: Okay.

She mixes the substances but nothing happens.

MRS. SIMPSON: And?

CHRISSIE: Nothing!! There was no explosion!

MRS SIMPSON: Shit.


Mrs. Simpson hits the table because she is very angry. There is an explosion. Both Chrissie and Mrs Simpson fall on the floor. They are unconscious for a moment and then they wake up again and look at each other and then at themselves.


MRS. SIMPSON: My body!!! I’m in my own body!!! We did it!!!

CHRISSIE: What a relief. I thought I had to be a grown up for the rest of my life.

MRS SIMPSON: Believe me. Being a pupil would have been just as bad for me.

CHRISSIE: Damn. I didn´t get the chance to give everyone an A in English and Chemistry in the school reports.

MRS SIMPSON: And I didn´t get the chance to flirt with that boy Ronnie from 9E.

CHRISSIE: Mrs Simpson!!! Don´t you dare. He´s my boyfriend. And you are married. Remember.

MRS SIMPSON: Hey, Chrissie. I was just joking. Me and Ronnie. That would be dangerous chemistry.


They both laugh. The lights go out.

(Chris in the library reading a book – Mike comes in)

Marian: “Hey man, what’s up? Oh my god! For what do you need all these books?”

Chris: “Hellooooo? I have to find some information for my project in biology… You have to start writing it too, remember?”

Marian: “Oh, don’t start again with this project! Calm down! We have two whole months until we have to hand it in!!”

Chris: “Yeah, but.. Helloooo?! We have to write about 60 pages except for the experiment we have to do. Two months just aren’t enough to finish all this!”

Marian: “Do you remember the project in physics last year? We had again two months to finish the 60 pages, and we both did it in less than four weeks!”

Chris: “Yes, but this one is much more difficult You always have to find new information”

Marian: “Come on Chris, relax a bit!!!!!!! There are so many other important things in life than this project, and generally school… Anyway, will you come this evening to the cafeteria? The others will be at a football match, and I don’t want to be alone…”

Chris: "I don’t know we have history for tomorrow and so many other lessons to do…"

Marian: “Ohhhh, come on, enough with these lessons. Remind me when was the last time you came to the cafeteria with us cause I don’t remember..?”

Chris: “Well I just don’t have time.”

Marian: ”Really, then tell me how can I have time to go out with my friends..??”

Chris: “You never do all of your homework. Have you ever studied for history??”

Marian: “Bullshit.. Who cares about history?? You are the only person I know who studies history!!

Chris: “Well ok I will come with you to the cafeteria just to show you that I don’t study all the time.”

Marian: “Fine, today you will have a great evening without books. Hmmmm what about 8 o’clock?”

Chris: “Ok, see you there…”

Marian: “Very nice.. Ohhhh, have you seen the book Che Guevara’s life? Because I want to find his biography for the school newspaper.”

Chris: “Aisle 5. There you can find the biography of many well-known people.”

Marian: “You know the library by heart...”
(Marian searching for the book)

Marian: “Ohh, there it is. I will write the best article ever, hehe. Ok, I have to leave now see you in the classroom.”

Chris: “Ok, bye. Oh god, I need the names of all the stupid human bones.”

(Marian laughs and leaves)


SCENE 2

(In the classroom)

Marian: “Oh, I hate ancient Greek and the teacher too.”

The teacher: “Stop talking… Marian, tell me the translation of part 2 in page 34.”

Marian: “Ehmm… I’m sorry, I didn’t have enough time to study.”

The teacher: “Oh, the same things again... How many times do I have to tell you that you have to study very hard?”

Marian: “Yeah, I’m sorry, but, you know I don’t care so much about ancient Greek.”

The teacher: “If you don’t know your roots then you don’t know your language. And if you don’t know your language you are not a Greek person.”

Marian: “Yes, I agree, but I’m not gonna speak with Aristotle or Socrates and apart from this the way we are taught ancient Greek in school makes us hate this subject. You know very well that the Greek school system sucks.”

The teacher: “Be careful the way you speak, please. The system is not the problem. The real problem is that you, students don’t study as much as it is necessary. For example look at Chris he always studies! This is what students should be like!”

Marian (ironically): “Yeah ok…”

(the art teacher comes into the classroom)

The art teacher: “Sorry that I disturb your lesson, but can I have Marian for a little? We want to discuss something about the school play.”

The teacher: “Oh again this play. I can’t stop the lesson every time. But okay Marian you can go.”


(the lights turn off)


SCENE 3

(Marian calls Chris at his house)

Marian: “Hey, Chris. Can you bring me the CD I asked you to burn for me?”

Chris: “Ohhh, shit I forgot. Sorry Marian but we had so many things to do for school and I didn’t even think about it.

Marian (with aggravation): “Okay, never mind. Anyway see you at the cafeteria okay?”

Chris: “Oh, Marian! I just wanted to say that-“

Marian: “You don’t want to come! Am I right?”

Chris: “No, it’s just… Oh, forget it..”

Marian: “Okay… So, see you at the cafeteria… Bye!”

Chris: “Alright… Bye!”



SCENE 4


(At the cafeteria. Marian is already there).

Chris: “Hey, Marian. Sorry, I’m late..”

Marian: “Hey. Never mind. Where is Mary?”

Chris: “Ohh, didn’t I tell you? We broke up…”

Marian: “Really? Why? You were such a nice couple…”

Chris: “Because we both didn’t have enough time to meet. I have to study very hard now because of the exams…”

Marian: “Are you kidding? You must be stupid to break up because of this!! You are not in the third class of high school so you don’t need to study so much. You are overdoing it!! Poor Mary…”

Chris: “STOP NOW!! You always blame me because I study hard!! Look at you. You always have arguments with the teachers because you don’t study. The only things you are interested in are boys, the school newspaper, theater plays, and things that you are not going to use in your whole life!!!”

Marian: “Of course these things I do are useful. And, of course I study, I just don’t study the subjects, I consider useless. At least I know how to live my life, not like you, locked in your room studying all the time. You have changed so much, you are not the Chris I used to know.”

Chris: “Nothing has changed to me, I just haven’t so much time I used to.”

Marian: “Then you have to organize your time better…”

Chris: “Stop pretending to know everything. It’s not easy to do everything on time. You always have time because you never study.”

Marian: “That’s not true, you know that I study! I just do so many other things… And I always have time!”

Chris: “If you have such big problem with me then stop spending time with me. This is who I am and I will not change for you.”

Marian: “I didn’t say that! It’s just that you don’t want to hang around with us anymore and you don’t even care about us!!”

Chris (angrily): “I’m not going to stay here and listen to your bad insults! I’m leaving!”
(he stands up and goes out)

Marian (sadly): “If you need help to find the old Chris just call me…”


SCENE 5

(the next day in the class room, in school. The bell has already rang for the lesson)


The art teacher: “Good morning kids!”

The kids: “Good morning Mr. Weasley!”

Mr. Weasley: “So, today we’re going to discuss some of Picasso’s masterpieces. Marian, can you tell us something about Picasso?”

Marian: “I think you should ask Chris, he knows every thing better than all the others. Am I right, Chris?”

Chris: “Just shut up, Marian, ok?”

Mr. Weasley: “Marian, Chris? What’s going on with you two? I have never seen you so altercated.”

Marian: “Ask Chris. As I said before he knows everything better.”

Mr. Weasley: “Ok, Marian, that’s enough. Chris, do you want to share this problem with us?”

Chris: “Some people think that I have changed and I don’t have time for my friends. The fact is that I just want to be ready for the things I am going to confront in my future. And this is not a mistake.”

How many people have you seen earn money without working for that, because they are lucky?”

Marian: “I agree, but what about friendsh-?”

Mr. Weasley: “Wait Marian. I haven’t finished yet. You asked about friendship.. Of course, that’s very important. I can ensure you that family and friends are the most important things in life. And, of course, love. A person without these three things in life is empty. You have to find the time to accommodate these things.”

Chris: “I think your right… I overdid it a bit.”

Everyone was very hearty and everyone was smiling but ugly Jonė just whinny. She hasn’t got any friends.

Jonė: It isn’t funny! Gražina, if you don’t have any humour – please SHUT UP!

Gražina: Hey! Why are you screaming on me? You are so… I don’t know… odd?..

Aldona: She’s so stupid - because she’s blond right?

Other girls approve.

Gražina: Girls, easy…

Speaker 1: Once upon a time there were two little girls.
Speaker 2: They were friends.
SP 1: Best Friends.
SP 2: From nursery school.
SP 1: To primary school.
SP 2: They were together.
SP 1: Every day.
SP 2: But unfortunately their fate had other plans.
SP 1: And they had problems.
SP 2: Big problems.
SP 1: They were very poor and one of them decided to go to another country for a better future.
SP 2: So she and her family travelled to America.
SP 1: Because they had a plan too.
SP 2: They had a rich uncle there who lived alone and wanted to host them.
SP 1: But life is unpredictable.
SP 2: That’s right.
SP 1: Nobody knew what could happen.
SP 2: After six years they decided to come back to Greece.
SP 1: They missed their home.
SP 2: And their friends.

Melina: That was what we were planning to do but after two days David, my uncle’s son told us that his lawyer asked to talk to me and my mother.

Melina: He showed us my uncle’s will… And the heirs were me, my mother and David.
Eveline: Wow, he was very rich. You must be rich too now!
Melina: Yes ,I am, but before that I lived with my mother in a small flat and we didn’t have money to buy what we needed to survive.
Eveline: At least you had a place to be safe. In America there are really dangerous areas.
Melina: I know I was afraid of everything. Even my home.
Eveline: I understand you.
Melina: I was thinking all the time that I missed my home and my friends.
Eveline: Did you have any friends there?
Melina: At first, no, when I changed my home I had some new neighbours. And they were rich, and I became one of them easily.
Eveline: You haven’t told me. How is life when you are a rich young heiress? (Laughing)
Melina: Hey I mean it, don’t you believe me? I have some photos from my new house. Look!

Eveline: Well I suppose I’m not proud of this.
Eveline: Ok, as I told you before I got some new friends so I started doing things they used to do. Melina: Like what?
Eveline: In the beginning I started going out and I come home late at night.
Melina: And what about your parents? They always had the perfect daughter.
Eveline: I didn’t want to hurt them but I did it. We used to fight every night until I left home.
Melina: What are you talking about? You left your own home? Where do you live now?
Eveline: I came back to my parents’ home a year ago after all.
Melina: What else? I thought the fact that you left your home was bad enough for you.
Eveline: I did things which were worst than this!
Melina: You are scaring me!
Eveline: Sorry, I was scared too.
Melina: Tell me what happened next.
Eveline: Well I started drinking alcohol.
Melina: You? I can’t believe you did it. You hated drinking.
Eveline: I hated smoking too, but I started it.
Melina: You did not! How could you do this?
Eveline: I just wanted to be like the other people of the group Mike, Tim, Linda, Malvin and Sam most of all.
Melina: Hey, you liked him.
Eveline: Perhaps, he seemed to be so different. He was the leader of the young group which I wanted to join

Eveline: I was just 13. I could easily follow them and do what they used to do.

I became a member soon. I can say we really had fun. We did everything I wanted to do and I couldn’t. We had no limits.

Performance in Ioannina (Poster)

Our poster for the performance in Ioannina (April 8th, Tuesday, 2008).

Our first workshop in Ioannina

We'll meet again in a project meeting (workshop) in Ioannina, Greece from April 3rd to 10th, 2008. Students and teachers from all participating countries and schools will have common rehearsals and work together on the plays selected to be presented to the audience of this city of NW Greece. These plays are: "The desk of Rock" from the Greek school, "Sparkling stars*" from the German school, "My school years" from the Lithuanian school and "Friends in Izmir" from the Turkish school. The performance of the plays is arranged to take held at the DI.PE.TH.E. of Ioannina theatre, the Municipal Peripheral Theatre of Ioannina, on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 at 8 p.m. Our workshop also includes an Ancient theatre Archaeological itinerary to the Ancient Theatre of Dodoni, the Ancient Nicopolis or Necromanteion and the picturesque sea resort of Parga. Students from 4 different countries of Europe will have the chance to meet each other and develop friendship that can last after their school years. Meeting each other is a way to overcome xenophobia and promote mutual respect and peace between peoples. So our project unites students and teachers from different cultures in a common scope, to express themselves through theatre. You'll have our news after the project meeting. Just wish us "success":-)...

Charlie: You’re right since nursery school (laughs a bit).
Peter: In which form are you two?
Charlie and Craig: 5D
Peter: What a coincidence, (with his hands on his chest) me too.

(They are interrupted)

Christine: Hi, I’m Christine. What are your names?
Craig: Hi, I’m Craig.
Charlie: My name is Charlie.
Peter: I’m Peter. Nice to meet you.
Christine: Are you in class 5D?
Peter: Yes we are, and you?
Christine: Yeah what a coincidence.

(The bell to start the school year rings)

Charlie: Well school starts. See you all later. (waves and goes away)
Christine: So I got to go and see my friends. See you later. (goes away)
Peter: Bye, see you in the classroom, Craig. (goes away)

(Craig stays a bit alone and then he sighs and goes away)



Scene 2:
Talking about a girl

(The boys are in the classroom)

Peter: (whispers with a surprised voice) Have you seen Christine, she is beautiful like an angel.
Craig: Yes, she is nice.
Peter: Where is Charlie?
Craig: He is sitting a few rows behind us. (Points his finger to the rows behind them)
Peter: Ok. Can you see Christine anywhere?
Craig: No, maybe she is still outside.
Peter: Well, let us take care of the teacher.

(The bell rings and Charlie joins them)

Charlie: What were you two talking about?
Peter: About nothing and what were you doing?
Charlie: I was talking with a guy in the classroom and he is really nice. His name is …
Craig (interrupts him): No one wants to know it, so what do you think about Christine?
Some voice: Come on Charlie, I want to show you something
Charlie: So I have to go to see him. See you two after class.

Charlie goes away.

Peter: Yes, see you.
Craig: Bye (and waves with a hand)





Scene 3:
The meeting

(The three friends meet after school)

Craig: Hi, do you want to come to my house? I have many video games.
Charlie: Ok, and you?
Peter: No, let´s go to my place. Ok?
Charlie: You are right. I totally forgot that you are rich.
Craig: Yes, but I have to go home and tell my mom and get some video games. Go without me, I will come later.
Charlie: Ok, see you later.
Peter: Do you know where I am living?
(Craig thinks a bit)
Craig: Ohm no.
Peter: Then I am going to send a limousine to your house.

(Craig goes away and Charlie and Peter go the opposite way)

Charlie: So where do you live?
Peter: Just around the corner.
Charlie: What? And for this short distance you want to send a limousine?
Peter: Um.. yeah… why not?
Charlie: I don’t know maybe because it is expensive.
Peter: No, the limousine belongs to my family so it is not expensive.
Charlie: What, you have got a limousine?
Peter: I have many other things that you do not know about.

(They arrive and go in)

As they are inside a butler comes towards them
Butler: How are you feeling today, sir?
Peter: Fine
Butler: Oh, you brought a friend, my name is Jasper. I am the butler.

Charlie: Oh, my name is Charlie, nice to meet you
Peter: Oh, before I forget it, could you please tell the driver that he must fetch another friend. He lives on Park Street, number eight, his name is Craig Thompson
Butler: I will tell him immediately.
Peter: We are going to go to my room now. I will call if I need you.

(They go away)



Scene 4:
Talking about someone

(Peter is showing Charlie his house when suddenly the doorbell rings)
Charlie: That must be Craig
Peter: Let’s go to the entrance

(Peter and Charlie go to the entrance)

Craig: Whoa, I knew you were rich but this is amazing. When the limousine came, I thought that someone wanted to kidnap me
Peter: Sorry that I didn’t tell you that. So let us go to my room now.
Craig: A moment please, I’ll take the things that I brought and then we can go.

(They walk to a room)

Craig: So what are we going to play first.
Peter: Nothing I want to talk about something with you.
Craig: What?
Charlie: Surely about Christine.
Craig: And?
Peter: Who thinks that Christine is interesting?

(Peter and Craig look at Charlie)

Charlie: Yes, I find that she is nice.
Peter: And you? (looks at Craig)

Craig: Yes, I like her a bit. Why do you want to know it?
Peter: Because I want her to be my girlfriend.
Charlie: And what about us?
Peter: I don’t know.
Craig: But I want her as girlfriend, too!
Charlie: So this is going to be a competition, huh?
Peter: You are right! So we are now rivals.
Craig: What? We are rivals? That’s not good.

(Charlie and Craig go away)




Scene 5 :
Reunion at school


Peter: Hey, what do you want?
Craig: Nothing I forgot my videogames at your home. Could you please give them back to me.

Peter: I’ll tell my butler to bring them back.

(Charlie arrives and then Christine comes and joins Craig and Peter and Charlie turns and goes to them but not directly to the group)

Christine: How are you guys?
Peter: Fine and you?
Christine: Fine, where is Charlie?
Charlie: I am over here

(Goes to the group)

Peter: I have to tell you something
Craig: No, you don’t
Peter: Yes, I have to. Christine, we three like you and want to have you as our girlfriend.
Christine: Whoa, just a moment (yelling)… you do what?
Charlie: (annoying voice) Well done, Peter. Nowshe is going to be the girlfriend of no one of us
Christine: I didn’t say that I don’t like you boys but that is too fast, and I can’t be the girlfriend of the three of you
Craig: We could have a competition to see who is the best and to see who you like the most.
Peter: We could see who has the most money of us.
Charlie: No that is unfair. We could see who is the best at sport.
Craig: That is unfair; too: We could play a video game and see who is the best.

(The boys go on arguing wildly when suddenly Christine yells)

Christine: Stop it! I’ll decide what you are going to do, let me think a day about it and tomorrow I’ll tell you what you’ve got to do. So see you tomorrow.

(Christine goes away. The boys look at each other and then they leave)



Scene 6
The final

Christine: I have decided that you have got to kick a teacher in the butt.
Craig: What? But tha…
Peter and Charlie: Ok

(Craig takes a deep breath and says)

Craig: Ok I will do it too.

(The three goes to a teacher and Christine stays a bit behind them)


Peter (whispering): So are you ready?

( Craig and Charlie nod and then the three kick the teacher and the teacher turns and says)

Teacher : Ouch that hurt, you three come with me to the head teacher

(Peter whispers)

Peter: Yes, we did it!
Charlie: But where is Christine?
Teacher: Come on what are you waiting for?
Craig : There she is (points with his finger to her and she is standing there with another boy)
Peter : So she betrayed us
Craig: Come on let us be friends again and never fight each other again.

(At this time a girl walks past them. The three boys look at the girl then they smile at each other)

Peter: Ah forget that girl. Do you want to come to my house?

(They are leave the stage talking)

Holiday camp


Characters: Glena, Margo, Janine, Joshua, Pedro

It is the holiday season in L.A. Glen, Margo, Janine and Joshua are in a holiday camp. Pedro is the person in charge of the camp.


Scene1:

Pedro: Glen, come to me please.
Glen: What’s up Pedro?
Pedro: Wash the dishes, please!
Glen: Pedro we have been here for an hour.
Pedro: I know. But wash the dishes, please.
Glen: Margo, darling come here.
Margo: Okay. What´s going on?
Glen: Can you help me with the dishes, please?
Margo: Oh, yes I can.
Glen: But why do we have to wash the dishes if we haven’t cooked anything yet?
Pedro: Because we couldn’t wash the dishes before.


Scene2:

Janine is sobbing.

Joshua: What’s wrong Janine?
Janine: I haven’t got any friends!!!
Joshua: And I haven’t got any friends at home.
Janine: Oh, is it true?
Joshua: Yes, it is.
Janine: Joshua, have you got a girlfriend?
Joshua: Well.…

Pedro enters the tent.

Pedro: Hey, you two, can you cook a meal after the others have washed the dishes, please?
Joshua: Ok, Pedro.




Scene 3:


Pedro: Janine, what’s happened?
Janine: Oh, it’s nothing.
Pedro: You can tell me if you want to do. If not, all right.
Janine: I haven’t got friends any here. That’s my problem.
Pedro: Oh, maybe I can help you to find friends.
Janine: Oh, really? That would be really nice, Pedro!
Pedro: No problem.

Joshua comes in.

Joshua: Janine, I have heard it all. I want to be your friend. OK?
Janine: Oh, thank you.
Pedro: OK, everything is all right, isn´t it?
Janine: Yes, it is.
Joshua: Ok, let’s cook a meal.


Scene4:

After the meal. Janine walks around looking happy. At the same time Joshua and Margo are in front of the tent.


Joshua: Hm, this night is very nice and quiet, isn’t it Margo?
Margo: Oh, yes it is, Joshua.
Joshua: This night is so nice, it shouldn’t end.
Margo: Well, I like the sun more than the moon.

Margo smiles. Then Glen appears.

Glen: Hey Margo, it’s very cold, isn’t it? Let´s go into the tent before we catch cold.
Margo: I think that’s right. Good night, Joshua.
Joshua: (hesitantly) Good night Margo.





Scene 5:

The next morning. After breakfast Janine and Joshua go back to their tent. Margo and Glen are standing in front of it.

Glen: Margo.
Margo: Yes, what’s wrong?
Glen: Margo, I don’t like to see you with Joshua.
Margo: But we just talk when…
Glen: Margo, I just want the best for us. You know.
Margo (sighs) Glen, I will do what you say.

Then Joshua comes.

Joshua: Margo, have you got some time to talk?
Glen: We are sorry but we haven’t got any time, have we, Margo?
Margo: Oh, we really haven’t got any time and we must go now.

Pedro comes into the tent.

Pedro: And Janine, how do you like Joshua?
Janine: Oh, he is very friendly. We often talk to each other.
Pedro: OK I must go now, because I have to plan something. It’s a secret.
Janine: Ok Pedro, see you soon.

Pedro leaves the tent. He goes back into his tent.



Scene 6:

Pedro speaks to the children.

Pedro: Ok, today we want to hear what you think about our camp. Have you a got question? A wish? Or something else?
Glen: Yes, I have a question. We just stay into our tents. Will there be any activities?
Pedro: I have planned a trip, but real activities, no.
Joshua: Can you tell us about the trip, please?
Pedro: I am sorry, but no.
Joshua: Why not?
Pedro: I can’t tell you that. Go back to your tents now.


Margo and Glen are very quiet. Then Janine wants to speak with the two.


Janine: Why are you two so quiet? Have you a problem? Can I help?
Glen: Shut up!
Joshua: Hey, Janine just wanted to help you!
Glen: Leave us alone! We want to stay alone!
Joshua: Shut up, or, or …
Glen: Or what?
Joshua: Then you will feel my fist in your face!

Pedro appears.

Pedro: Don’t fight you two! Haven’t you two got any discipline? Maybe you two should go to bed earlier then the others! Go to bed now!

Pedro leaves the tent. Margo and Janine go to bed.

Margo: Let us be friends, ok?
Janine: Yes, ok. It was just a fight about the boys.
Glen: Hey, what is that supposed to mean?
Margo: Who fought? Us or you two?
Glen: Sorry, but I don’t care. I want to know what you meant!
Margo: I mean that you two should go to bed.
Joshua: I think that’s the best thing we can do.
Margo: Ok, good night.
Janine: Good night.


Scene7:


The next morning. Margo and Janine leave the tent. Glen and Joshua are now alone in the tent.

Glen: I know what Margo meant yesterday. She meant that it was just your fault. You must say Joshua, I am very clever, don´t you think so?
Joshua: You know that’s not true Glen! You shouted, not me!
Glen: Be quiet! What you are saying is as stupid as you are!
Joshua: Ah, shut up you silly thing! You can just fight, can’t you?
Glen: No, but you can just fight, can’t you? Well, I won’t speak with a guy who is as silly as, as … as you!

Then Pedro comes in.

Pedro: How often must I say it? You shouldn’t fight!
Joshua: I thought we are friends Glen, but it was wrong to think that. I won’t speak a word with you again, Glen!
Glen: Nice, I will do the same…
Pedro: That’s enough!
Joshua: I understand you, Pedro. I´m going.


Joshua leaves the tent.


Pedro: And you, Glen, tell me what happened!
Glen: Ah, he said that I am silly, but he is just jealous that I am more intelligent than he is!
Pedro: And that’s all?
Glen: Yes, it is.
Pedro: Ok.

Pedro leaves the tent.


Scene 8:




Joshua walks up to Janine and Margo. He wants to talk to them.

Joshua: Hi Janine, hi Margo.
Janine: Hi Josh, what’s wrong?
Joshua: Oh, it’s all right.
Margo: And what’s with the noise from the tent?
Joshua: Oh, that was nothing. But how are you two? Are you fine?
Margo: Yes, everything´s cool. But what was going on in the tent?

Glen hears the conversation. He is getting angry. Glen goes to the others.

Glen: Hey, what are you saying, Joshua?
Joshua: I said I won’t speak a word with you. What do you want?
Glen: Leave Margo alone!
Joshua: Hey, what …

Then Glen pushes Joshua. Joshua falls. He doesn´t say a word.

Janine: Pedro! Please come!




Scene 9:

Pedro comes. He looks at Joshua, then at Glen.

Pedro: What happened?
Glen: Pedro, I …
Pedro: Leave us alone. Go!

Glen goes back to his tent.


Pedro: Joshua, are you all right? Can you hear me?

Joshua groans.

Joshua: Ah, yes, I´m okay.
Pedro: I think the best thing for you is to go to my tent.
Joshua: Ok Pedro.

Pedro and Joshua go to Pedro’s tent. Janine and Margo go to Glen because they want to know why he has done that.

Janine: Why did you do that?
Glen: You two must understand me. I don’t want to lose Margo!
Margo: You already have. I don’t want to be with someone who is as evil as you are!
Glen: But Margo, I…
Margo: Not but, it’s over.

Margo leaves the tent. Glen is very sad.

Janine: Glen, I can understand you, but what now?
Glen: I don’t know what I should do. Leave me alone, please.

Janine leaves the tent.






Scene 10:

Now Glen is alone. He thinks what he should do.

Glen: That’s all Margo’s fault! Without her Joshua and I would be friends. But could it be my fault, too? I would get along with Joshua, but I … No, no and no! It can´t stay like is. I don´t want to get along with Joshua, but… enough! I want to stay away from then until the time is good for… I don’t know for what!






Scene 11:

In the afternoon Pedro speaks to the others. It’s about the “trip”.

Pedro: Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will go on a trip. I just want to remind you because I was sure that you would forget it. Now go back to your tents!
Glen, Margo, and Janine go back to their tents. No one says a word. Then Joshua comes in.
Janine: Joshua, are you fine?
Joshua: Yes, I am fine. And what about you?
Janine: It’s all right, isn´t it, Margo?
Margo: Yes, it is.
Janine: Well, has Pedro told you about the trip?
Joshua: No, he hasn’t. What did he say?
Margo: He said that the trip was tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
Joshua: Thank you.


Suddenly Pedro shouts.


Pedro: Joshua, Margo, can you two come to me, please?

Margo and Joshua leave the tent.

Glen: Hey, Janine, I need your help.

Janine: What’s wrong, Glen?
Glen: I don’t know what I should do. Should I make peace with Joshua?
Janine: Well, I think you should.
Glen: I will make peace with him when it’s the right time.
Janine: I think that’s a good idea…

Margo and Glen come in.

Margo: Pedro says that the trip will be tomorrow evening. Isn’t that great?
Janine: Yes, it is a good change.
Joshua: I think the best thing I can do now is to sleep. Good night everyone.
Margo: I think for me it’s the best, too. Good night Janine, good night Joshua.
Janine: Good night.



Scene12:

Janine and Glen leave the tent.


Glen: Now I am not sure.
Janine: Damn, but I think it’s the best time for it.
Glen: Ok, but how can I reconcile with Margo? I don´t want her as an enemy.
Janine: I could speak with Margo if you want.
Glen: You would do that for me? Thank you very much Janine! I don’t know what to say!
Janine: It’s okay Glen. I will do that in the morning. Good night, Glen!
Glen: Good night, Janine!



Glen and Janine go into the tent


Scene13:


The next morning Janine wakes up Margo earlier than usual.

Janine: Hey Margo!
Margo: (yawning). What’s going on, Janine?
Janine: I must talk to you, Margo.

They both leave the tent.


Margo: Ok, what do you want to tell me?
Janine: I want to ask you what Glen must do to get back together with you.
Margo: I think if he and Joshua were friends again, I would take him back! Tell him that.

They go back to the tent.


Scene 14

Joshua leaves the tent. But suddenly he falls. He can’t move.. He can´t shout. Glen is near him. He sees what happened. He helps Joshua and he brings him to Pedro’s tent.



Scene 15

When Joshua regains consciousness, no one is in the tent. He feels better than before. When he leaves the tent he sees Glen.

Glen: Well rested?
Joshua: Oh, Glen, did you help me?
Glen: I just did my duty. And I have a question.
Joshua: What is it?
Glen: Would you be my friend again and for ever? Like in old times?
Joshua: Oh yes, I would!

Janine and Margo come.


Margo: Pedro told us what you have done. Will we be best friends for ever like before the fight?
Joshua: Yes, we will!
Janine: Now everything is okay!

Pedro comes.

Pedro: Yes it is. And now it’s a happy …

…end.
